Hi, I’d like to take this opportunity to share some dates of interest with the Delaware Valley Trike Riders’ Club members and others regarding some upcoming club rides and rides sponsored by other groups you may find of interest.
If you are a fan of riding the Perkiomen Trail, I encourage you to consider riding the northern section to the Green Lane Park amphitheater on Saturday, September 26, 2015, from 11 AM to 3 PM, where the Pennsylvania Audubon society, will be celebrating “Bird Town” in honor of John J. Audubon. This event is free and filled with information on how you and your hometown can choose natural and native green designs for habitats that will support both local resident birds as well as make inviting sanctuaries for migrating birds. This is an excellent family riding opportunity for the whole family with plenty of activities for young children! For more information see: http://pa.audubon.org/bird-town.
The Odd Sunday Sundae Ride, also known as the “Exercise in Futility” ride will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2015, starting at 8:30 AM. This is a cardio-challenge interval sprint-training ride of about 30 miles, making use of the D&R trail and Rte. 29, from north Lambertville NJ to Frenchtown and back. The “futility” is directly correlated with the amount of ice-cream you eat while in Frenchtown.
The Pinelands Preservation Alliance (PPA) once again will hold their 5-day Tour de Pines rides (Septembrer 30 through October 4). Each day a different route, typically 45 to 50 miles in length, will be led through various areas of the NJ Pinelands. The Delaware Valley Trike Riders Club will be joining the PPA on the final day’s tour, on October 4, 2015, which offers two routes sharing a common map – one being a 27-mile ride, the other a 45-mile ride. Both rides start at the same location, share the same lunch stop (pack your own lunch) and end where they started. Registration for the whole Tour, or just for one ride is only $40.00 ($36.00 for PPA members). Please see Tour de Pines Bicycle Tour for details and registration information. All proceeds go to protecting and preserving this wonderful natural parkland.
More information will be posted as these events draw nearer.
I look forward to riding with you!
