If you are thinking about gifting a bicycle to someone you love this holiday season, I hope that you would consider purchasing one from the New Jersey Bike Exchange where you can find some great reconditioned bikes for everyone on your list.
Location: In the Capital Plaza Shopping Center, 1500 North Olden Avenue, Ewing, NJ 08638.
Hours: Tuesday and Thursday Evenings from 5:00 to 7:45, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 3:45.
I’ve been volunteering as a bike mechanic at the Trenton Bike Exchange and right now we have one of the fullest inventories of bikes available for everyone from small children needing training wheels to adult bikes (including road bikes, hybrids, mountain bikes, even electric assist bikes) as well as a few collectible vintage bikes. All bikes are safe and in great condition – many are like new! Every bike is priced to provide an exceptional value and all of the proceeds are provided to support the fine programs at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Mercer County. Many children’s “first bikes” are priced between $5.00 and $15.00!
The New Jersey Bike Exchange has been operating with an all volunteer staff since 2009 and has sold over 12,000 bikes and provided the Boys and Girls Club over $655,000 in funding. In addition to the bike reconditioning and sales activities, the Bike Exchange also provides a program of focused mechanical training to interns from the Boys and Girls Club and provides similar volunteer opportunities to students at local schools and universities.
Bike donations are always welcome! You can drop off your bike at the Trenton Bike Exchange during business hours or at any one of 13 other partner locations in New Jersey or Pennsylvania. Bike donation drives are also a great project for students needing community service credits for school or within your faith community or neighborhood. If you are interested in starting a bike donation drive, please contact The Bike Exchange and we can help you get started.
Volunteers are always welcome and positions are available for mechanics, sales and store managers. No Experience is Necessary! If you have the desire we will provide the training. Stop in any time we are open for business and let us show you around.
